Kathie is a highly motivated and energetic professional. She is an effective communicator with outstanding hands-on and strategic skills enabling her to work closely with people to achieve the best possible results.
Kathie has always enjoyed working with people, a trait that was developed after 10 years in a large retail chain, starting out as a fifteen year old checkout chick and then moving through the ranks to be second in charge of a fourteen million dollar turnover store. Leaving to have her first child and then into her first small business as a wedding make up artist - a diverse change from the hustle and bustle of retail that is for sure.
Kathie invested in her second business (along with her family) in 1992, moving from Newcastle to Port Macquarie, NSW to establish a Solatube Skylight Franchise business in Northern NSW. The business grew from a start up operation to a one million dollar turnover award winning franchise business in the space of two years. During this time Kathie developed a franchise operations manual for the business and was the Chairperson for the Franchise Group, Franchise Advisory Council.
After 8 years in franchising as a franchisee and franchisor new opportunties where available the business was sold, and thus a move back to Newcastle to start afresh.
Over the last 10 years, Kathie has worked successfully with small businesses in Newcastle and the Hunter as a Business Mentor and Consultant, for five years she has been involved with the coordination of mainstreet committees, those being: Mayfield, Wallsend, Cessnock, New Lambton and The Junction. Kathie has with the assistance of these business groups and passionate volunteers raised over $300,000 in funding to support their plans, projects and events.
Today, Kathie works with the communities of Wallsend, Mayfield and The Junction, is a director of The Franchising Professionals and is active in writing grant applications for business and community.
